The pillar of Reflection ON Digital Information Technologies (DITs) is concerned with society, with the transition as the guiding force. This involves creating parameters and design principles for the two other pillars (Innovation WITH and Innovation IN), so that digitalisation is given shape responsibly and integrally and new market opportunities can be seized. The innovation phase already includes explicitly addressing specific conditions for how the innovations will be adopted, to help with scaling up, market creation, valorisation, new income models and new skills and confidence for companies and members of the public.
Ethical, social and legal
This pillar includes the ethical, social and legal aspects (‘ELSA’) of digitalisation. It also focuses on sustainability, security, strategic autonomy, safety by design, security by design and FAIR data, as well as considering the implications of future national and European legislation in the field of digitalisation and also aligning with the working agenda Value-Driven Digitalisation as part of the Digitalisation Agenda of the Ministry of the Interior and Kingdom Relations. This includes considering inclusion, security, clarity, transparency & autonomy and quality and accessibility. All this will help the Netherlands to stay in the vanguard of responsible digitalisation.
